WCPS Employee Handbook 2024-2025

If the employee does not request to use his/her comp time and/or the supervisor does not schedule the comp time prior to June 30 of each year, the comp time shall convert to salary and will appear in the employee’s next available check. Any call-in on a weekend, night, or holiday will be compensated a rate of one and one half (1½) times their normal rate for a minimum of two (2) hours. This shall apply to emergency calls, calls for alarms and/or break-ins. Any employee who is scheduled for an approved leave day and is called back to work shall have the right to refuse the call-in without reprisal. If the employee is available, and reports to work for any part of a day, he/she will receive credit for another entire day’s leave. In some cases, on-call schedules are developed to cover facilities during extended periods of non-use (holiday breaks, summer, etc.). Such schedules are necessary to cover emergencies or issues when facilities are largely left unattended. Leave requests during this period are taken on a "first-come/first-serve” basis. Such requests will be considered when developing the on-call schedules, provided the employee has provided leave request in advance. If an employee is assigned to be "on-call" for a day, or series of days during such periods, then that employee will be provided two hours compensatory time (comp time) for each day he commits to being "available" on-call. In addition, the employee is compensated for any actual hours worked in accordance with (Classified) Article 10 Salary.
