25 IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION • The school health staff will contact the parent/guardian to pick up the student if the student tests positive for COVID-19. The school nurse will provide the parent/guardian instructions for isolation. • Staff members who test positive for COVID-19 will be provided with instructions for isolation. HEALTH EQUITY The following protocols and strategies are in place to ensure health equity for all students and staff including those who are or may be disproportionately affected by COVID-19, i.e. those from racial or ethnic minority groups, people living in rural areas, those experiencing homelessness, persons with disabilities, those with substance abuse disorders, people who are justice-involved, and those born outside of the United States. • Provision of all health-related communications to families in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole, with additional availability of LanguageLine for communications in other languages. • Provision of resources and communicationmaterials to area programs and shelters serving homeless students and families, i.e. information of vaccination opportunities, testing, symptoms, screening, protocols, etc. • Posting of information about vaccines, immunizations and other health matters in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole on school and school system websites and social media. • Provision of COVID-19 diagnostic testing at no cost for all staff and students at each school site, with home test kits also available. Staff at the school and district level will support health equity for all students by working every day to safely provide in-person learning through implementation of recommended prevention strategies, taking a multilayered approach to COVID-19 management to the protect health and safety in schools, following the guidance and advice of the CDC, MDH and Wicomico County Health Department. WCPS will take into consideration the action steps for addressing health and educational disparities recommended by the CDCs Division of Adolescent and School Health.
