26 Part III: Business and Operations Return Planning The Division of Business and Operations provides support and direction to all facets of the Wicomico County Public School System in the areas of finance, human resources, employee relations, food and nutrition services, planning and construction, facilities, maintenance, operations, and energy. This division works closely with school staff to ensure that necessary resources are in place to meet the needs of all students for academic, social, and emotional growth. In addition, Business and Operations works tomaintain clean and efficient facilities that are safe and healthy environments where teaching and learning can effectively occur. Collaboration with administrators, staff, and the community is an essential part of informing the daily practices of this division. Health and Safety Practices • Follow recommended guidance fromWicomico County Health Department and MSDE Pre-K to 12th School and Child Care Guidance • Educate and remind parents/guardians and staff the importance of staying home when sick. • Over-the-counter COVID-19 home test kits will be provided to student families and staff for as long as they continue to be provided through MDH. • Signage and protocol to support recommended and/or required health and safety practices • Plexiglass for front office counters • All students, staff and adults may choose to wear a mask based on personal preference or informed by personal level of risk. • Frequent hand washing for staff and students in buildings • Hand sanitizer available in all classrooms and stations around buildings FOOD SERVICE • School breakfast and lunch is offered to all students free of charge during the 2022-2023 school year, under the Community Eligibility Provision. No application is needed to receive meals free of charge. Meals were also free of charge in 2021-2022, under a USDA waiver in response to the pandemic. • However, because of other benefits to students and the schools they attend, Wicomico County Public Schools encourages all families to complete a Household Data Collections Form (please click this link to access the form) to determine eligibility for additional resources based on federal guidelines. • Meal service will be revised as needed in response to additional guidelines from USDA and MSDE. FACILITIES CLEANING AND VENTILATION WCPS is ensuring all cleaning practices are aligned with current CDC guidelines for Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Facility. The following is planned to address general operations, safety, cleaning routines and ventilation. Building Cleaning and Disinfecting The safety of students and staff is our top priority. Schools were completely cleaned and disinfected during the summer and all necessary sanitation precautions will continue to be followed throughout the school year.
