Purpose 5 The purpose of this policy is to ensure proper procedure for student grading, promotion, and 6 retention at Wicomico County Public Schools (WCPS). The primary purpose of grading is to keep 7 parents and students fully informed of a student's progress and to provide a continuous and 8 accurate record of each student's achievement. 9 10 II. Policy Statement 11 The Wicomico County Board of Education (WCBOE) believes in a fair and consistently applied 12 grading, promotion and retention system for all students at Wicomico County Public Schools 13 (WCPS). Grading and promotion at WCPS provides important information about a student’s 14 progress and performance in relation to their ability and in relation to standards for individual 15 classes. 16 17 III.
