Examples of formative assignments for elementary 220 instruction include class work, homework, cooperative activities, exploratory labs, exit 221 tickets, informal writing assignments, and other formative assignments determined by the 222 teacher. Summative assignments account for 50% of a student’s grade. A summative 223 assignment occurs after instruction has been completed on a given topic, standard, or 224 unit. Summative assignments are used to determine what students know, understand, and 225 are able to do at one point in time. Examples of summative assignments include unit 226 tests, quizzes, projects, formal writing assignments, lab write-ups, and other summative 227 assignments determined by the teacher. Grades in the 235 electronic grading portal will include all work that has received a letter grade and will be 236 recorded by the teacher in a timely manner (within 10 school days of the teacher's receipt 237 of the assignment). Each entry in the electronic grading portal shall indicate the task 238 assignment being evaluated and the date of collection for the assignment. 239 Parents/Guardians of students in grades 1-5 will be able to view their child's grades on240 line beginning mid-September through June 30th. The school office will provide parents 241 with access directions to the electronic portal.
