Discrimination undermines our community’s long-standing efforts to create, foster and promote equity, inclusion and acceptance for all. Dear Students, Parents/Guardians, and Families, Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! It is a privilege to serve as your Superintendent and to work alongside such a dedicated community. Education is truly a team effort, and by working together— students, families, staff, and community—we can ensure a successful year. As we begin this new school year, we look forward to the opportunities and successes it will bring. Guided by our theme, 'Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow,' we will focus on our five strategic priorities, which are School Climate & Safety, Student Achievement, Student Engagement Opportunities, High Performing Workforce, and Family & Community Involvement, to ensure our students thrive academically and socially. As we implement initiatives like the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, our goal is to prepare every student to be college and career ready while fostering a safe and welcoming environment. This student handbook outlines the policies and procedures essential for supporting learning and maintaining a positive school climate. It includes our revised Code of Conduct, which emphasizes the connection between good behavior and effective learning. Please review it carefully to ensure all students are supported in achieving academic, social, and behavioral success. We are committed to creating a learning environment where students feel safe, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential Our staff is eager to partner with students, families, and the community as we work together toward new heights of success. We count on every student to uphold the responsibilities of good citizenship, as outlined in this handbook. Thank you for your commitment to making this a great year. Together, let’s make this a year of growth, achievement, and shared success. Sincerely, Micah C. Stauffer, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools
